Prinz Residence
769 North 58th Street Omaha, NE AIA Omaha Architect: Tom Prinz, AIA The original house was built in the 1930’s. The initial addition was built in 1990 and it consisted of a double garage addition with an exterior courtyard. We added a second floor family room in 2004 with a new space above the garage. The series of additions were based on the concept of a central exterior courtyard as a way of merging the old and the new. The main building materials used were burnished block, concrete board, brick and metal. The courtyard consists of brick, slate and cedar. The second floor addition is oriented towards the courtyard and is spatially connected to the second floor with a glass slot in the floor. Interior materials are cherry wood trim, drywall and pecan floor. |

Goodrich Residence
1220 North 53rd Street Omaha, NE AIA Omaha Architect: Michael Hamilton, AIA The scope of this project was to create an architecturally correct addition to a 1930’s era Dundee home. The project entailed the addition of 1800 square feet addition to the existing 1600 square feet residence along with a 1000 square feet carriage house. The projects main goal was to renovate and recreate the existing residence while adding square footage to accommodate today’s lifestyle. This home features the use of minimal maintenance and green friendly materials throughout and an open floor plan with custom gourmet kitchen/great room with a spectacular view to the outdoor living environment featuring a free form pool with a 6’ waterfall drop, full outdoor kitchen with fire pit. Other feature includes a 25’ x 25’ theater room with fully automated control systems and wine tasting room. |

Scissor House
5510 North 83rd Street Omaha, NE AIA Omaha Architect: Jeff Dolezal, AIA Working professional desires dwelling alternative to the cookie-cutter, mass-produced, residential market dominated by the current homebuilding industry mafia. Simple residential program of 2 bedrooms, open kitchen/dining/living area, bathroom, laundry/ utility room, master bedroom/ bath. The house was designed without damaging any of the large specimen trees that exist on site. The house was laid out to minimize sound disturbance from a highway to the south. The owner wanted a modern, open plan on a tight budget, under $200k. If successful, this home could become a new model alternative for the first time home buyer. The key to the design was minimal site impact and a simple structural framing diagram. Various additional “architectural events” were added including sun shading devices, decks, and canopies. The garage was also detached to create usable program between the massing, framing views to the site. |

Elm House
13484 Ogden Plaza Circle Omaha, NE AIA Omaha Architect: Randy Brown, FAIA The Elm House is located in a unique-density, modern, ecological community, adjacent to a nature preserve. The goal was to integrate this production home with nature as well as with homes in the surrounding community. To accomplish this, contemporary details are coupled with eco-friendly design. A green roof improves insulation, reduces storm water run off, and integrates the home with its surroundings. Three deck spaces encourage homeowners to experience and enjoy the natural setting. Sustainable materials are used throughout the home: bamboo wood floors, polished concrete floors, compact fluorescent light bulbs, radiant floor heating, and Low-E 1" insulated glass. Through excellent attention to detail, the Elm House successfully takes advantage of the natural setting and provides homeowners with a modern design focused on clean, minimal open space. |
